2017 Football Season Preview
Here is my all to early and probably incorrect football predictions for the 2017 NFL season. I'm sitting here on Tuesday the 8th with a cup of coffee and I'm ready for football season! Hope you all enjoy the blog!
AFC East: New England
Really hard to bet against
Tom Brady, add in the fact that they had a great off season with the addition
of receiver Brandin Cooks and the Patriots might be even better then last
season. Did I mention they made a historic Superbowl Comeback last night? Miami
might give them a fight for the division but in the end I think Brady and co
are to much to overcome.
AFC West: Oakland
Derek Carr was outstanding
last year untill he lost his season to injury. No reason to think Jack Del
Rio’s Raiders with a healthy Carr won’t be even better this season.
AFC North: Pittsburgh
Once again the story is about
injuries. With a healthy Roethlisberger, Bell and Brown the Steelers may have
the only offensive arsenal that can content with the Patriots. Look for a
healthy Pittsburgh team to make a deep run in what will probably be Big Ben’s
last season in steel town.
AFC South: Houston
This may be the closest
division race of the year but hopefully it’s not because of how poorly the
teams have played like last year. I think Houston with a returning JJ Watt and
that defense is too much to overcome. Rookie quarterback Deshuan Watson only
has to game manage this year and if he does more it’s gravy. Expect both
Jacksonville and Tennesee to fight hard for this division.
Wildcard: Jacksonville and Miami
Can Jacksonville live up to
the offseason hype train they are always on? They have yet to but this year
should be different under Marrone and Coughlin’s reschime. Led by Rookie
running back Leonard Fourtnette and a revamped defense the pressure won’t be
has heavy on quarterback Blake Bortles.
Miami under a and a breakout
year from running back Jay Ajjai played great in crunch time last season. This
year it looks like recently retired Jay Cutler will be quarterback. He is familiar
with Gase’s system so hopefully this offense won’t miss a beat. Had Tannehill
been healthy I think Miami may have beat Pittsburgh in the wildcard round. Look
for an even better season from Miami this year.
NFC South: Tampa Bay
This is a really tough
division to pick and you could make a case for almost any team in this
division. My gut pick is Tampa Bay who has a ton of talent and a blossemed
receiving core with the addition of playmakers DeSean Jackson and rookie O.J
Howard. Hard to imagine a wildcard won’t come from this division with the likes
of Atanta, New Orleans and Carolina.
NFC North: Green Bay
Last years playoff loss hurt
and outside of Detriot being competitive it’s hard to imagine that Green Bay
dosen’t run away with this division. Aaron Rodgers is a future hall of famer
and just like Brady he continues to only get better with age. Minnesota and
Chicago will be better but I don’t think they will be able to overcome there
quarterback concerns.
NFC West: Seattle
Seattle should be another
team that runs away with it’s division. A healthy Rusell Wilson and intact
legion of boom makes Seattle an early favorite in what still looks like a
dismal NFC West. Arizona may challenge with a healthy Palmer but don’t expect
much from San Francisco and St. Louis this year.
NFC East: New York
In the NFC it’s really hard
to pick a Super Bowl favorite but if I had to pick one I’d pick Eli Manning and
co. Adding in the addition of Brandon Marshall and perhaps the Giants have the
most dynamic receving core in the league. Expect a big year from Eli and the
Giants. Look for Philly and Washington to challenge. I think Dallas while
immensley talented is in for a bit of a set back.
Wildcard: Carolina and Atlanta
Both Atlanta and Carolina will
be hard to keep down. I don’t think Atlanta will be as good as they were last
year but I do expect them back in the playoffs. Carolina is due to bounce back
and with a more humbled Cam Newton I think they will do just that.
